Jawi House Cafe Gallery is a singular find in George Town where heritage cuisine meets gallery charm. The kitchen celebrates Jawi Peranakan cuisine—a delicate marriage of Malay, Indian and Middle Eastern influences—served in dishes like tender beef rendang, fragrant fish curry and the much-talked-about Mango Kerabu that balances tang, texture and freshness. Guests love the layered, earthy flavors that are flavorful without overpowering heat, making each plate approachable yet distinctive. The space itself doubles as an intimate gallery, with old-world decor and local artworks creating a relaxed, evocative backdrop to leisurely lunches or sunset dinners on Armenian Street. Many patrons return multiple times because standout items—Tomato Rice, Jawi Briyani Chicken, Malay Style Fried Chicken—deliver consistency and authenticity. Service is attentive and the presentation is thoughtful, making it ideal for food lovers seeking something both rooted in tradition and wonderfully unique. Trusted by over 1,400 diners, Jawi House is a must-visit for anyone wanting a memorable culinary detour through Penang’s multicultural food history.

in the last weekWe had a group dinner here. We were put up at Kemboja, a beautiful space adjacent to Jawi House. Special shoutout to Mr Raqib and his team for going out of their way to set up the space for us and ensure we had the best possible experience. Food was amazing and service was excellent. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting George Town, or groups seeking a private dining spot. Jawi House is an institution for good reason - it is a must try!

a week agoStumbled in to this place during lunch. It was busy. But we walked around and came back. 20m later and there were plenty of tables. The menu is big, and there's 2. One is with pictures titled "chefs favorite". But these don't have prices. The other menu has no pictures but contains all the dishes with prices. The cucumber riata was SO GOOD. It's technically a side dish but I recommend getting a bryianni with the riata. It's a good combo, flavor bomb. We also tried the hummus platter. Skip this. It's 40rm which is more than everything else put together
