SOOD by Chef Ton is a stand‑out dining destination in George Town, known for its striking red interior and inventive Modern Thai fusion dishes. From the moment you step into the lively space you’ll notice the theatre of the room matches the theatre on the plate: starters like the Beef Larb Crispy Taco and Smoked Grouper Soup lead into mains such as the Crab Curry Linguine, 5‑spice lamb shank and Panang curry tiger prawns, each presented with confident flavours and thoughtful plating. Guests often choose the tasting plates to sample a range of the kitchen’s strengths, though many return to order à la carte after discovering favourites. Service is warm and attentive, and practical touches like valet parking make an elegant night out effortless. Desserts — think Thai Tea Cheesecake and playful banana preparations — round off a menu that balances comfort with creativity. Whether you’re celebrating a special evening or exploring Penang’s evolving food scene, SOOD delivers a memorable experience that keeps locals and visitors coming back. Trusted by over 169 diners, this is a great pick for those seeking refined Southeast Asian flavours in a modern, energetic setting.

a week agoThe first thing I want to note was how helpful and considerate the staff was. My mother wears Niqab (face veil) and they offered us a more private area so we could eat and enjoy in peace. And then there's the food. We chose a course menu when we came in. It was a multi-course meal, and each offering was amazing. From the Amuse (Oysters, scallop, and crunchy prawn biscuit - each one with their distinct glavour profiles, and rich enough to enjoy every morsel) to the starters, the soup, the main (they didn't have beef when we came, but that was okay because the river prawn and smoked duck were to die for. I want to especially note the river prawn had a really rich variety of flavour and spice that felt genuinely satisfying to eat) to the desserts, everything was made to bring us much joy. I will note that some of the dishes were quite spicy, but we were okay with it because we enjoy it and are used to it. But for anyone else who only has a mild spice tolerance, ask before you order anything. The staff are helpful and will let you know what you might enjoy based on your preference. Anyway, I want to thank the staff again for just being awesome.

3 weeks agoGreat food, good service. A good place to have dinner. However, it was rather empty during my visit, so there wasn't much of a special atmosphere.

a month agoChic and atmospheric Thai fusion fine dining is to be found at this outlet set up on historical Lebuh Farquhar right next door to LYF hotel in George Town's colonial heart. Perfect place for quiet family dinners or cozy date night dining with a touch of class. We opted for the omakase-inspired 'chef's curated menu' which turned out to be a real hit from starters to dessert. The first thing noted is the piquant fusion flavours that blends the best of classic Thai cuisine with the jazzy flair of cosmopolitan culinary traditions from East and West. And then, the top quality ingredients and freshness of the meat and fish will impress and please even the most demanding palate across the board. The establishment lives up to its promise to deliver the best in terms of quality, taste, premium seasonal ingredients, and, gracious and attentive table service. A visit here will leave you chuffed and pampered (tastebuds included) from the first bite to the last. ❤️❤️❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍.
