Lucky Hole is a vibrant fusion spot on Beach Street that marries Japanese precision with Western technique and local Penang flair, delivering a dining experience that’s adventurous, intimate, and full of personality. Located in George Town, the restaurant is known for an energetic vibe, counter seating that lets you watch the kitchen craft each plate, and a menu that pivots between delicate tartares, rich steaks and inventive small plates.
Standout items mentioned by guests include an unforgettable unagi salmon tartare, a medium-rare Stanbroke Wagyu Ribeye MB5 finished with beef-fat chimichurri, and wild-caught prawn preparations that balance sweet ocean flavors with bold accompaniments like chorizo and grilled sourdough. Desserts such as a 70% dark chocolate terrine rounded with crème fraîche and EVOO provide a refined, decadent finish. The beverage program is lively too — mocktails and creative non-alcoholic concoctions receive praise for complementing the food without overpowering it.
The team’s hospitality is frequently singled out: service is polished and friendly, and the staff’s recommendations often lead diners to some of their favorite discoveries on the menu. Because seating fills quickly, advance booking is wise — the intimate counter and limited tables make for an in-demand experience. Michelin recognition and glowing word-of-mouth have helped make Lucky Hole a trusted choice for adventurous eaters, drawing food lovers who appreciate culinary daring paired with consistent technique.
For anyone seeking a memorable fusion meal in Penang with theatrical kitchen views, bold flavors and attentive service, Lucky Hole delivers a compact but thrilling culinary adventure in George Town.

2 weeks agoWent on a Friday evening at 6:30, it starts to get crowded at 7 ish ++ Food was good, i think prices for that quality is quite reasonable also. Can’t be expecting to split those portions with 3 right? Came out to about 191myr for 2. We ordered 2 drinks, 1 side and 2 mains. I think 191myr is quite reasonable and average cafe pricing in Penang. Was shocked to see so many bad reviews about the place. The service was very good, would definitely come back if around the area. Is quite near to other restaurants and dessert shops. A good place to visit with mid range price if you can afford for it. Price also reflects on the quality which I can say is immaculate 👍👍👍👍 Drinks were also very rich in flavour, tasted like a more atas starbucks! The vibes were also there, would recommend to come at 6:30-6:40 ish to be able to choose seats

2 weeks agoThis is our 3rd visit. Finally we managed to snap some photos, but trust me when I say the photos do not do it justice. The food is absolutely amazing. I do not understand the 3.9 star ⭐️ that they get because from the food to the service, they are top notch. Lucky Hole will always be the place that we bring our friends to when they visit Penang.

3 weeks agoLucky Hole in Georgetown is a place you either absolutely love - or just don’t get. If their flavor profile clicks with you, the food is sublime and genuinely memorable. The interior is modern and stylish without trying too hard, and the cocktails are crafted with real attention to detail. Definitely worth a visit if you appreciate bold, refined dining experiences.
