Sin See Tai, Malacca — A Coffee Adventure with Soul

A Hidden Prologue

Tucked away in the charming backstreets of Kampung Jawa, at 18 Jalan Jawa, Sin See Tai feels like discovering a secret postcard from Malacca’s past. Its name, meaning “New Generation” in Hokkien, nods to the fresh, imaginative spirit behind the café. It opened in 2017 as an experimental side-project by The Daily Fix team — a place to explore unique coffee blends, fermentation, sourdough baking, and more.

The Vibe

Walking in, you’re greeted by a rustic, plant-draped façade and a modest roastery humming behind a sleek La Marzocco machine. Up one narrow wooden staircase lies a hidden attic — you’ll feel like you’re in someone’s cozy living room: vintage sofas, art-filled walls, sunlight through windows, and the gentle hum of conversation.

Sips & Bites That Speak

Their coffee menu rotates with beans from New Guinea or blends from Brazil and Guatemala — each cup tailored to artful precision. I recall sipping a cappuccino with perfect balance, then switching to a velvety Cold Brew Latte that felt like a hug on a sunny day.

And the food? Comforting and thoughtfully crafted. Highlights include:

  • Home-baked granola — crunchy oats, pumpkin seeds, fresh fruit; a breakfast dream.
  • Avocado bacon toast — pillowy sourdough topped with creamy avocado, bacon, egg, and greens.
  • Quinoa barley risotto — chewy, savory, with mushrooms and miso-truffle flavor that lingers.

On another visit, I treated myself to pastries that were little bites of joy: wild mushroom danish and matcha croissant rolls, paired with an iced latte that was blissfully smooth.

Atmosphere Highlights

  • An intimate space with only about 15–16 seats — perfect for peaceful reflection or creative spark sessions.
  • A micro-roastery hums softly in the corner, offering a sensory symphony of coffee aromas.
  • Friendly warmth from the team, as if you’re visiting a friend’s chic but lived-in loft rather than a café.

Why Sin See Tai Left a Mark on Me

As someone who’s hopped from café to café across Malaysia, I can say with confidence: Sin See Tai is magic in a cup — and then some. It’s not flashy. You won’t find neon signs. But you will feel inspired, nurtured, and oddly at home — like Malacca’s soul has been folded into cushions and steam.

It’s a place to unwind, to daydream, or maybe scribble travel notes while sipping coffee that’s roasted just two to three steps away.

Final Sip

If your Malacca journey whispers for a cozy retreat filled with aroma, warmth, and little surprises — Sin See Tai is your answer.

This place is like a hidden coffee spot. I try the pistachio dirty latte and its really perfect pair with to each other. Inside the cafe is also cozy and AC is cold. Nice to stay here during the sunny and hot days
