The Old Mark Cafe, Malacca — Where Soufflé Pancakes Become Poetry

A Canvas of Calm in a Heritage City

Tucked away in Taman Kota Syahbandar at 39 Jalan KSB 11, The Old Mark Cafe feels like a quiet punctuation in Malacca’s bustling itinerary. The minimalist façade—earthy tones framed with greenery—welcome you inside with a gentle promise of rest, flavor, and the softest soufflé pancakes imaginable.

Soufflé That Sways and Delights

Their signature fluffy soufflé pancakes are legendary. Picture pancakes so airy they flirt with gravity—wobbly, dreamy, and light as a memory. The Whites Nutty version (RM19) with white chocolate sauce and walnut crumbs was a delightful whisper of sweetness. The tiramisu variant—rich cream topping and espresso-soaked ladyfingers—was equally irresistible.

Beyond the Pancake—Brunch Worth Staying For

It’s not all dessert here. I tried the Old Mark Big Breakfast (around RM27)—scrambled eggs, ham, mushrooms, hashbrowns, and salad on toast—and it comforted me like an old friend. Other dishes like creamy pastas, rice bowls, and matcha lattes make this café a smart brunch stop as well.

Cozy, Calm, Sometimes Crowded

The ambiance is modern, clean, and subtly inviting—perfect for journaling or catching up with friends. Be ready for a short wait on weekends—floofy pancakes are made fresh, and the word is out.  Still, I promise: the gentle hum, subtle latte art, and comfortable vibe make it worth the pause.

Why Go: Fluffy soufflé pancakes, satisfying brunch, calm aesthetic, and a local favorite hidden from the typical tourist trail.

Why It Lingered in My Heart

I came in chasing a sweet treat and left with something softer—a moment of stillness in a city of color. The Old Mark Cafe is like meeting a gentle melody in a bustling crowd: delicious, heartfelt, and quietly unforgettable.

Warmly,
Mike, your companion for cozy café corners at Onalulu.com

Fantastic souffle! Tried the strawberry souffle with an added mochi layer on the top. That combination was da bomb! Goey mochi paired with the soft and fluffy souffle was really a feast for the taste buds. Will come again in future

Had fish and chips, iced latte and the peach soufflé pancake. A bit on the pricy side but a nice trendy cafe.
