Tek Sen Restaurant is a Penang institution in George Town where classic Chinese dishes are served with warmth and consistency, making it a repeat destination for locals and visitors alike. The restaurant’s signature Char Siew Bak is frequently recommended, and plates of tofu, bitter gourd with egg, kang kong and other vegetable dishes are praised for careful preparation and comforting flavours. Tek Sen stands out not just for its food but for the thoughtful, accommodating service—staff will note special dietary requests and often make adjustments, which creates trust for diners with particular needs. Expect a lively queue at peak times; the team takes orders while you wait so service feels brisk once seated, and communal tables add to the bustling, friendly atmosphere. Portions are generous enough to share, and dishes like sting ray curry and chicken with plum sauce are commonly singled out as highlights. While prices are modestly higher than some hawker options, the overall experience—reliable cooking, attentive staff and a menu full of balanced, flavorful dishes—makes the visit worthwhile. No wonder it’s trusted by over 3,900 diners who keep coming back for that familiar, well-executed taste of Penang.

in the last weekExcellent food ! Worth the wait, we went twice but the long queue put us off, went back a third time at 17.15 & first in the line .. simple, reasonable prices & a system that just works .. share table was fine!

in the last weekTo be completely honest, this is just a regular chinese restaurant to me. I mean, it's not bad, but I dont find anything remarkable enough for me to wanting to go back. Maybe if there's no que. But I dont think the taste justifies the que. Everything is edible, homemade tofu is good, but there are lots of other places make that kind of tofu. Pork is good but just ok. Same as chicken sour plum and prawn omellete, all are just ok.

in the last weekThe queue is long. I think the favorite food here is the pork.
