in the last weekWe were really let down by our experience. We weren’t planning to leave a review, but the checkout process was the final straw and, in hindsight, the issues started from check in. Check in was cold and purely transactional, with no real pleasantries. We were also told it didn’t matter whether we used a debit or credit card for the security deposit, but only found out at checkout that using a debit card means waiting a month for the refund. That is a key detail that should be clearly communicated upfront. During the stay, there were several lapses in basic service. We arranged a packed breakfast the night before as we had to leave early for a hospital visit and were told it would be delivered to our room at 6:15am. It never arrived. When we checked with reception as we were leaving, we were told “oh, there you are, we’ve been keeping it here for you,” as if it was our fault for not collecting it - despite being told it would be delivered. By that point, it was too late for us to take it. There were also ongoing issues with the overall atmosphere. The hotel didn’t feel particularly peaceful, with loud karaoke from the hawker market next door blasting until around midnight each night, and frequent swarms of tourists moving through the space. On top of that, we were repeatedly questioned about whether we were hotel guests when in guest-only areas. While we understand the need for this, the way it was handled felt abrupt and accusatory - being asked what room we were in without any greeting or basic courtesy. Checkout was particularly disappointing. We were waiting at the desk with our luggage, clearly intending to speak to the receptionist (Faizah), but she allowed another guest to cut in front of us. When she did acknowledge us, she did not engage properly.. she gestured for someone else to take our key, then shooed us away with her hands and said “all good, you can go,” despite us obviously waiting to ask a question. We had to approach her again and insist on speaking to her. There was no acknowledgment, no “thank you for staying with us” - nothing. That is the absolute bare minimum in hospitality, and instead we were dismissed. It’s disappointing because the hotel itself is beautiful, and the tour we joined was excellent. However, the lack of basic customer service throughout the stay significantly impacted the overall experience.
