On a quiet lane beside Bukit Cina, I stumbled upon Locahouz—a soft glow behind lanterns and greenery luring me into a traditional Straits Chinese shophouse turned café. At 8 Jalan Bukit Cina, heritage architecture folds into modern creativity; sunlight filters through antique windows as plants seem to hum stories of Malacca’s layered past.
Feels Like Home (But Better)
Walking in, I felt like I’d entered my grandmother’s living room—but she was asking if I wanted pumpkin bao or chrysanthemum latte. Locahouz is decorated with relics that feel more like memories: a sewing machine, a vintage bicycle, rotary phone—all tracing the owners’ family stories.
Delights Worth Lingering Over
The menu beautifully blends local flavor and modern twists. I still daydream about the Pumpkin Bao with Coffee-Marinated Pork Belly—sweet, savory, and utterly inventive. The dreamy Chrysanthemum Latte followed, floral and soothing. For something playful and refreshingly bold, I sipped their homemade orange-lemon beer.
Every bite and sip felt thoughtfully made, rooted in place and personality.
Vibe That Stays With You
Locahouz invites you to breathe slowly—vintage decor, warm staff, and soft lighting all conspiring to slow your pace. It’s more than a café; it’s a retreat for memory, creativity, and genuine warmth.
Final Word
Whether you’re a heritage-lover, food adventurer, or someone chasing cozy corners—Locahouz is a gem where every detail whispers a story. I left not just full, but full-hearted. If Malacca ever called you to slow down, this café is an answer.

First time here, and I had a great experience.
Great environment.
The food was delicious.
The drinks were good too.
Most importantly, it was a place where you could truly enjoy the moment.
The staff is kind to put aside my sambal salmon in another bowl when I said I'm not handling well with spicy food. Truth is, it's spicy and the taste is so goodddd!!
Pork belly burger is like 5/5 when the bread is sourdough 🤭🤭🤭🤭
Their homemade apple crumble is generous with the portion, taste is just right on point, enough for two people🥰🥰
We ordered both types of coffee (English & local Malaccan style), and personally find their Malaccan coffee is more aromatic than the garden-variety local coffee brands. Their waiters are relatively newbie in coffee & F&B service. Best part, this is a pet-friendly cafe so it offers additional option for doggie owners like us!
