Calanthe Art Cafe — Rustic, Artful Coffee & Comfort in Melaka

Calanthe Art Cafe is a tucked-away gem on Jalan Hang Kasturi that feels like a friendly host as much as it does a café — a place where the mix of artful details and warm service turns a simple stop for a drink into a memorable pause in Melaka. Guests praise the specialty coffee offerings from smooth, aromatic local brews like Kopi Pulau Pinang to rotating daily treats such as Kopi Kelantan, plus a bold K03 for those who prefer dark, lush flavors without bitterness. The staff routinely go the extra mile: expect polite, attentive service, helpful menu options (digital or printed), and even thoughtful samples to help you choose. The interior leans into a rich, rustic vibe with interesting visual touches that spark conversation — a relaxing, art-filled backdrop for an afternoon snack or a leisurely evening cup. The team’s attentiveness makes the place ideal for both casual drop-ins and longer stays; visitors often note the friendly, conversational service that makes you feel hosted rather than hurried. Food-wise, casual bites complement the drinks well — from light afternoon snacks to local favorites like laksa (not necessarily the country’s best, but a pleasant accompaniment) — and the menu balances comfort with a local twist. Practical touches add to the charm: staff are comfortable with modern ordering tools but always happy to hand you a printed menu if you prefer, and drinks arrive promptly, presented with care. There’s even a playful local quirk — a vintage, photograph-like face visible across the road that regulars enjoy spotting while sipping. With a welcoming, creative atmosphere and consistent praise from a large number of satisfied guests, Calanthe Art Cafe is a dependable stop for anyone exploring the historic core of Melaka, whether you’re seeking a strong, expertly made coffee or a quiet corner to unwind in its cozy atmosphere.

I had a kopi set. It come with Toast, butter, kaya, and soft boil egg. The kaya taste good and not too liquidy. The toast is also just nice. But the Kopi Ice (Melaka) is fantastic !!! Not too sweet and well balance. Coffee taste not too strong, suit every malaysian taste bud. Will try other kopi ice maybe selangor or kelantan for stronger coffee taste. And another add point is how amazing the staff are. Everyone is so helpfull and so nice. I hope the boss reward all of their staff handsomely I wish i can some tour inside the cafe, but they got some shooting so i unable to do so. Hopefully oneday i able to visit this cafe again and do some tour inside. I also purchase the kopi sachet (Melaka and Selangor each) the staff who help me and explain the detail is also so sweet.

Calanthe Art Cafe's Nyonya Laksa is rich and flavorful, a perfect complement to a cup of Malacca white coffee. The comfortable and artistic ambiance makes it ideal for relaxing and chatting. The aroma of coffee, the art, and the slow pace of life make Malacca a place worth spending an afternoon in. ☕✨

The food was served very slowly; we finished our coffee before the food arrived. There weren't many people there at that time.
