Beautiful white sand paradise on east coast of Malaysia. Must travel between March to October, upon that is monsoon season. Nature is beautiful but still have some pollution with old boats spilling diesel on the water. Easily can see black tip shark and turtles.

Lovely island with soft sand and clear blue water. Love that this is not a party island or activity focused place as those places, generally you cannot enjoy the beach due to many boats going in and out, banana boat rides and jetskis. Beaches here are generally clean but there are some people leaving trash behind. Pls do not be that person.

We visited in mid-March, at the end of the monsoon season. There were three adults and two kids (6 and 12) in our group, and we had the boat to ourselves. The ride from Merang Jetty took about an hour, and while it was fun and exciting for the first 30 minutes, it got pretty tiring after that. But seeing the turtles at the first stop made it worth it! The next stop had lots of fish, and the sandbar with turquoise waters was perfect for photos. Some of the corals were a bit bleached, but the snorkeling was great, especially for the kids since it was their first time. The return ride was rougher with bigger waves, but luckily we had motion sickness meds, or it would've been tough. Overall, it was a great experience, but I’d recommend going when the sea is calmer.

Came in july, beautiful and blue water but the tide was quite high, my journey going back from the island to the mainland were quite challenging, all people in boat are soaking wet due to the high tide and boat speeding through it. The boatman said the best time to go here were in february to june, but if came too early you may not find any turtle as it is not their season yet, april and may are much better time with lots of turtle and better tide during that month. Beautiful place but lots of their coral are bleached during my visits. The sandbank are beautiful but the sand are quite coarse as it has a lot of broken seashells, so make sure wear a slipper or swimshoe to protect your feet bcs some boatman cant park their boat at the sandbank due to high tide, so in order to reach the sand you need to swim a bit.

We missed our ferry because they left us 15 mins earlier than departure time. Then a group of kind Taaras boatmen quickly sent us to the middle of the ocean to embark the ferry otherwise we couldn't go home. Everything was personalised service attended by Anita the Taaras Manager. It was really fun there but it would be better if we didn't miss the ferry...
