I thought this was a wonderful stop on our World Cruise. It's a fun beach town, with a great aquarium, interesting shops, and a variety of restaurants. The harbor was quiet and peaceful.

Greetings, Sirs and Madams, I’m Darryl, and I just visited Langkawi last week! Oh, how I wish I lived there. Before my trip, I had no idea what Langkawi was. A friend of mine, a Malaysian, told me it was a “dead island,” a ghost town. Naturally, since my family and I were going there, I asked him what it was really like. Our journey began with a smooth flight, and the view from the window was breathtaking. The island, surrounded by vast blue waters, is beautiful. While not as large as Singapore, Langkawi has its own unique charm. It’s the kind of place where you can truly discover yourself, and I certainly did. The moment we landed, I stepped onto Langkawi soil and was greeted by a pleasantly breezy atmosphere. It wasn’t too hot or too cold, just the perfect balance. For someone dealing with stress or depression, the refreshing air alone felt therapeutic. After arriving, we checked into Wings by Croske Resort Langkawi, which was surprisingly within walking distance from the airport. At first, I wondered why we weren’t taking a Grab, but my father simply pointed ahead and said, “The hotel is right there.” I was amazed by how convenient it was—we didn’t need any transport at all. Once settled, we began exploring the island. My first impression of Langkawi was how friendly and well-trained the hotel staff were. As for the rest of the island, you’ll find a mix of locals and expatriates from places like Australia, Switzerland, the USA, and Singapore. Some Malaysians have even moved to Langkawi permanently. I can’t remember the exact order of activities we did, but I do recall riding an ATV, exploring an adventure park my mom found on Google, going on a boat ride around Langkawi, and visiting nearby islands. We also took a cable car ride to explore Langkawi’s stunning mountains. The view from above was breathtaking, offering a panoramic look at the island’s natural beauty. It’s definitely a must-try experience. One of the most unique activities we did was visiting Dream Forest, a nighttime attraction that tells the history of Langkawi through an immersive 3D experience. As you walk through the forest, surrounded by cool air and a mysterious atmosphere, you’re transported into Langkawi’s past with beautifully crafted visual storytelling. The cold breeze adds to the chills, making it both relaxing and thrilling. There’s even a special spot where you can shout, and when you do, lights appear in the forest—an unforgettable moment that makes the whole experience even more magical. Fast forward through all the activities, I had an amazing time. The water was great, the people were friendly, and the island was full of things to do. While riding in a Grab car, I saw even more activities we didn’t get to try. Sitting in the front seat, I kept thinking, “Wow, there’s so much more to do here.” Even though we packed our four-day trip with activities, I realized you’d need at least a few months to fully explore Langkawi. Overall, Langkawi is far from a ghost town. It’s full of life, adventure, and unforgettable experiences. Personally, I prefer Langkawi over Bali. One of the highlights for me was the sunset. If you visit, I recommend checking out Park Royal Hotel. Even if you’re not staying there, you can still walk in and explore. My family and I did just that, and I was amazed by the beautiful swimming pool and cultural influences in its design. But the best part? As you walk further in, you’re greeted by a stunning sunset over the beach. It was around 6 PM when I saw it, and I can confidently say it was one of the most breathtaking sunsets I’ve ever witnessed. You might be thinking, “Every country has a beach and a sunset,” and that’s true. But for me, this was the most beautiful one I’ve ever seen. Langkawi is a must-visit destination.
