2 weeks agoBest show I’ve seen in awhile, it’s unexpectedly mind-blowing (in a good way). Highly recommended to everyone - both tourists and Malaysians. My family and I travelled from KL to Malacca to watch "The Legacy of a Generation", my grandma was in a wheelchair and the staffs were so helpful. Parking was swift and easy, the architecture of Encore Melaka building was really cool and right next to the Straits of Malacca - chill and breezy. All performances were outstanding, we could feel the talent, passion and dedication of all performers. Even though I'm not a huge fan of history, I enjoyed this show very much and not only it gave us goosebumps and tears but it had left an impression in our hearts. We'll definitely come back again soon for the "Encore Melaka" show.

in the last weekProps to Encore Melaka for the theatre. It’s beautiful, and looks amazing from the outside. The main feature tho, is being able to turn the entire audience 360. Beyond that it’s completely disappointing. The show was definitely overpriced, there was no clear storyline, and it definitely didn’t tell or attempt to picture the real history of Melaka. Instead, this seems more like a propaganda machine - of the entire history of Malacca, they had to choose to begin the history from when a Chinese Admiral entered Malacca, and the entire production was very China centered, we felt it helps make the Chinese tourist feel patriotic and in a way to ingrain and indoctrinate them that Malacca originally and truly belonged to the Chinese. That definitely didn’t sit right.

It was my first time seeing a 360-degree rotating stage, and I was amazed that such advanced technology exists in Malaysia. If you're visiting Melaka, this is definitely something you don’t want to miss out!

a month agoMy first impression of the premises hosting Encore Melaka is the sheer grandeur of the mammoth building set itself at the waterfront of the Straits of Malacca. The show boasts breathtaking visuals and technical brilliance. The rotating theatre, seamless transitions, and stunning sets create an immersive experience. The highlight of the 70 min show ought to be the energetic drummers and the mesmerizing water fountain dancers. Despite of its impressive production, in my opinion, Encore Melaka falls short in conveying Malacca’s rich history and culture. I personally felt that the show’s heavy focus on Malacca’s dark historical past overshadows the optimism, leaving little room to depict the hopeful and bright future. It’s a missed opportunity—such a visual marvel for its technical brilliance and effects deserved a more meaningful and culturally engaging story.
