3 weeks agoDeserves the stars it gets. Pleasantly surprised at how well they used regionally sourced produce to create balanced yet surprising tastes. Service was excellent and we will definitely be back.

2 months agoSimply the perfect dining experience. It's was our second time visiting the establishment so we had to opt for the omakase dining option this time around. The total dinner set us back 3000RM for two everything included but it was truly worthwhile. We have previously sampled all the Malaysia michilin star restaurants and this has to be our favourite. The iconic dishes to remember would be the 'echo of the sea' and 'carima beef'.

a month agoHad dinner, tried the La Empereur menu. The bread basket was very good, the accompanying caviar butter looked better than it taste. Overall nice experience but lacked the wow factor. Was impressed with the small bites or amuse bouche. Had caviar served on some toast but could not feel the depth of flavour . The truffles pasta was lost in a big bowl , had strands of sea weed hiding the noodles, the cream sauce did not compliment the Uni. Less is more sometimes . When new group of customers came along not sure if kitchen could not handle , we waited more than 10 mins for main course … till yr eating momentum is impacted . Main dish was lobster hidden underneath some radish . Chef used peas in quite a few dishes , could work for others but not my favourite . For RM1.2k per pax, I expected to be bought on a culinary journey of discovery and differentiated flavors , it just came across as nice food.

2 months agoAll around spectacular. It's a bit of a drive out of central KL, but once you're inside it's an experience to savor. We opted for the vegetarian menu, which was requested ahead of time, and we were blown away by the ingenuity and quality of each course. I believe it was 7 or 8 courses in all, each one completely unique and beautifully presented, with a measured amount of Malaysian and Japanese influence. Service was on point and personable. They brought out a cake to celebrate my wife's birthday :) Our parting gift was some delectable macarons.I couldn't help but imagine chef Darren Chin honing his craft in Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, then coming back home to offer such excellence to his people. He came out of the kitchen with a smile to bid us adieu. We left with hearts and bellies full, and look forward to our return next time we're in town.

2 months agoLong overdue review as we dined in Jan 2024 but one that is well-deserved and had to be written given our exceedingly positive experience at DC restaurant. Starting with the food: largely traditional French cooking techniques with an Asian slant on ingredients. Our 4-course meal was a treat from start to end. Amuse bouche were on point and delectable. Echo of the sea was an absolute umami bomb. Scallop and lamb dishes were great. Perhaps the duck was the weakest link, but was overshadowed by the rest of the outstanding dishes. Shoutout to the pastry team and chef too: bread basket left us requesting for refills while the desserts were creative with story-telling elements. Comparing to the other Michelin-starred restaurants we’ve been to in Singapore, the price to value ratio is unbeatable. However, what made our dinner truly memorable was the service. Although the restaurant has a minimum age children policy, the restaurant was nice enough to accede our request to have our 2 young children join us given that we were on holiday overseas and caretaking arrangements were not feasible. Not only did the wait staff interact/play with our children throughout the meal, they did not show any impatience or get upset when our older child messed the table slightly. In fact, when they saw me cleaning up, they quickly intervened to help and assured me not to worry. Here, I would like to make a shoutout to Razak (hope I remembered your name correctly!): I still recall our convo and I hope everything has been great with your recent “gift” in April. Also, a special shoutout to Hua: thanks for coordinating the reservation arrangements and we really appreciate you offering to use the private room on the top floor when we had to sooth our younger child, which we otherwise had to do outside the restaurant. All in all, we had an extremely positive experience at DC restaurant on all fronts and think back fondly of our meal till today. We will definitely make a return visit when we visit KL again! Cheers to the restaurant team =D
